These constructions are examples from a large series exploring my current preoccupation with early Italian frescoes. The graphic quality and the complex colours of these frescoes have led me towards a personal abstract language, using the 'head' as a starting point.

Derek Morris

The recent works on display in this exhibition continue to be concerned with my main visual issues - The construction of none - referential forms revealed against the flat vertical surfaces which surround us every day of our lives. The discovery of intimate spaces formed by the juxtaposition of open and closed rectilinear boxes clustered together, and the lively animation and changes of mood that colour brings to all.
